Nepal “Gen Z uprising” misinformation

During the September 2025 anti‑corruption, youth‑led protests in Nepal, false posts and recycled videos on Facebook and other platforms claimed the army was taking over, temples were under attack and specific activists were “foreign agents,” which fuelled panic, fear and doxing, with some homes later vandalised.​
Experts and fact‑checkers report that coordinated false narratives and violent videos in comment threads escalated tensions and contributed to unrest that left dozens dead and thousands injured.​
